SCHOOL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

PROJECT STRIVE

We offer a weekly after school psychoeducational program for 4th and 5th grade students at Eagle, Bay, Medford, and Tremont Elementary schools.  The goal of the program is to improve student academic performance and behavior in and out of school, as well enhancing the relationships between children, their families and the community.  Early intervention can prevent the onset of delinquent behavior and supports the development of a youth’s assets and resilience.   The program provides counsel on obtaining skills in the areas of health and nutrition, positive relationships, building self-esteem, goal setting, decision-making, and community awareness through educational workshops and group activities, as well as community service activities.  Guest speakers visit to speak to the students about various topics. In addition, the program aids children through the transition to middle school.
